The apostle Paul and his associates with their mission to various cities around the Roman Empire were preaching a simplified version of Christianity stripped of some of its Jewish roots, dropping the requirement of vegetarianism that was practiced by Peter, James and the Jerusalem group. Dropping vegetarianism no doubt helped to make more Roman converts. I’ll be recording a new podcast soon on vegetarian passages in the Ebionite Book of Acts (Clementine Homilies and Recognitions) revisiting the vegetarianism of the Jesus movement.
